The College Football Playoff will now include broadcasts on TNT, as Warner Brothers Discovery recently announced a five-year deal with ESPN that allows TNT Sports to sublicense CFP games. Starting in 2024, two first-round games will air on TNT Sports each season for two years, followed by the addition of two quarterfinal games from 2026 through 2028. CFP executive director Bill Hancock expressed excitement about adding TNT Sports to the lineup and looks forward to the network’s innovative ideas for promoting and delivering the games.
As part of the agreement, ESPN will continue to air the other CFP games and the national title contest on its networks. The CFP is expanding from a four-team system to a 12-team format this upcoming season, with five conference champions receiving auto bids and seven at-large bids. While this format is guaranteed for the 2024 and 2025 seasons, there are expectations of further expansion to 14 teams starting in 2026.
With the college football landscape evolving due to conference realignment, TNT Sports will be there to broadcast the thrilling playoffs leading up to the championship game. Fans can expect to see the CFP games on TNT Sports along with ESPN for the foreseeable future as college football continues to grow and adapt to changes in the sport.
