Attention drivers and subway passengers in München, the city will be very busy today due to the upcoming EM-Game between Romania-Netherlands with a kick-off at 6pm. Dutch fans are planning a fan march in the Olympic Park starting at 11 am. The Munich fire department has shared details stating that the fan march will gather at the Olympic Stadium to set off at 12 noon, resulting in several street closures along the planned route.
The procession will begin at the Olympic Ice Stadium, proceeding through Lerchenauer Strasse, and then continue along Schleißheimer Straße towards the city center. The route includes Ackermannbogen and Spiridon-Louis-Ring, with expected disruptions in traffic from 12 noon to about 1 p.m. The Munich Transport Company (MVG) anticipates an increased influx of football fans towards the Olympic Park and the match venue at Fröttmaninger Arena.
Following the fan march, a joint stage program and celebration with Dutch and Romanian fans will take place in the Fan Zone from 1 p.m. Bus shuttles are available from 2.30 p.m. for ticket holders to the arena to alleviate public transport pressure. Additionally, many Oranje fans are expected to join football festivities in the city center during the day at Marienplatz and Viktualienmarkt. There will be a heavy police presence with up to 2,000 officers deployed in Munich on European Championship match days.
