Top Helsinki Stock Exchange Stocks with Highest Returns in 2022

Kauppalehti recently published a list of the top ten most popular stocks on the Helsinki Stock Exchange. The number of owners of these stocks did not necessarily correspond to their financial performance. Despite this, the ranking of the most owned stocks remained relatively unchanged, with some fluctuations in the number of owners.

Interestingly, the stock that experienced the largest decrease in the number of owners actually had the best returns at the beginning of the year. On the other hand, a stock that had fallen significantly in the past year attracted the most new owners. Nordea, a banking group, has consistently had the most owners on the Helsinki Stock Exchange for several years. They saw an increase of 5,400 owners at the beginning of the year, thanks to strong financial results.

Neste, an oil refining company, had the worst annual return among the popular stocks, with a 32% drop in share price. Despite this, the company attracted over 15,000 new owners at the beginning of the year. Another notable change was Fortum moving into the third position of most owned stocks, surpassing Mandatum. Additionally, Kesko replaced Wärtsilä on the list of the top ten most owned stocks.

Nokia, once the most owned stock, saw a significant decrease in the number of owners at the beginning of the year. However, their price performance was the best among the companies listed. Despite challenges, Nokia’s share price increased by around 14% since the beginning of the year. Overall, while there were fluctuations in the ranking and number of owners of popular stocks, the market saw some interesting trends in the Helsinki Stock Exchange.
