In Week 5 of the 2023 season, the top high school fall sports scorers in the Memphis area were impressive. The volleyball players showed great talent and skill. Covington’s Kendall Narcisse had a stellar performance against White Station, winning 25-14, 25-21, 22-25, 18-25, 15. Narcisse had 15 kills and 18 digs, playing a crucial role in their victory. Aliya Potapenko of Lausanne also had a noteworthy game, contributing seven kills, six blocks, and four aces in a 25-23, 26-24, 25-18 win over Harding Academy.
Kathryn Connell and McKayla Scott from Covington showcased their defensive abilities, with Connell recording 22 digs and Scott adding 15 in a hard-earned 3-2 win against White Station. Connell also stood out with six aces, and Scott displayed her offensive prowess with eight kills. Ashari Jenkins and Kinnie Boyd of Roseanne were a force to be reckoned with, combining for 22 kills and 43 digs in a dominant 3-0 win over Harding Academy. Jenkins contributed five aces to their victory.
In girls soccer, Maria Bear of St. Benedict shined, scoring three goals in a 4-1 triumph over Lakeland Prep. Bear’s performance played a crucial role in securing the victory for her team.
Turning to boys golf, Zach Olsen of Houston earned the medalist honors by shooting an impressive 35 in the Mustangs’ game against Arlington at Pine Hill. Houston came out on top with a score of 154 goals, while Arlington scored 166 goals.
In girls golf, Mathil Walker and Claire Todd of ECS stood out in their team’s victory over St. Benedict. The Eagles won by five shots, with Walker and Todd both shooting 37s and sharing the medalist honors. St. George’s, Westminster Academy, and Lausanne also competed in the match. Sophie Christopher of Houston had a standout performance, earning medalist honors with a score of 34 in the Mustangs’ game against Arlington at Pine Hill. Houston came out on top with a total score of 78, while Arlington scored 103.
