In February, Northampton Saints announced that Lewis Ludlam would be leaving the club at the end of the season. The 28-year-old England flanker has signed a three-year contract with Toulon, the three-time Champions Cup winners.

The move to Toulon was agreed upon earlier in the year and was officially announced by the club on Monday. Ludlam expressed his excitement about joining the prestigious club with a rich history and talented players.

Having spent eight years at Northampton, Ludlam’s final appearance for the club was in their recent Premiership final victory against Bath. He will now join his international teammate Kyle Sinckler, who also signed with Toulon in March.

Unfortunately, the move to France will mean the end of Ludlam and Sinckler’s England aspirations, as under existing rules, players based with clubs abroad cannot be selected for the national team by head coach Steve Borthwick.
