The New Orleans Pelicans have been receiving more calls about trading Brandon Ingram as options for shot creation and shooting are becoming limited after Paul George and Klay Thompson found new teams. Interest in DeMar DeRozan and Lauri Markkanen is also increasing as teams look to bolster their roster.

According to Marc Stein, attempts to trade Brandon Ingram have intensified in recent days. Ingram’s camp has explored trade options due to the reality that the contract extension terms they hoped for are not coming from the Pelicans. New Orleans is hesitant to pay Ingram the next contract as he is entering the final year of his current deal at $36 million.

The Pelicans recently added Dejounte Murray and have Trey Murphy III deserving more minutes on the wing, potentially leading to the decision to trade Ingram to clear a pathway for Murphy. The Sacramento Kings have been mentioned as a potential trade partner for Ingram, with a trade possibly involving Harrison Barnes, Kevin Huerter, and picks.

Ingram had solid averages of 20.8 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 5.7 assists in nearly 33 minutes per game last season for the Pelicans. However, his injury history is a concern for teams interested in acquiring him. Looming decisions about rookie contract extensions for players like Murphy could be driving New Orleans’ push to trade Ingram.
