At 9:10 PM, there was a main intersection in downtown South Park that was closed off, as well as the northbound side of the South Park Bridge, due to a big fire response. The fire was reported to be in the business building on the northeast corner of the intersection. Smoke was visible on the nearest traffic camera, which pointed toward the bridge’s south end.
By 9:22 PM, the Seattle Fire Department was still fighting the fire and southbound traffic off the South Park Bridge was being detoured onto westbound Dallas.
By 9:25 PM, the fire was reported to be under control.
At 9:40 PM, it was reported that there were no injuries as a result of the fire. Southbound traffic on the bridge was being held behind a bus and the traffic camera showed cars turning around and heading back northbound.
By 9:45 PM, the Seattle Fire Department had declared the fire “tapped” and some of the units were being dismissed.
