The Jets made a change at starting quarterback on Monday, replacing Zach Wilson with Tim Boyle. They also announced that Trevor Siemian will serve as the backup to Boyle. Siemian has been with the team since signing with the practice squad after Aaron Rodgers’ Achilles injury. The team formally signed him to their active roster on Tuesday. In addition, the Jets announced the signing of cornerback Craig James to the practice squad.

Siemian previously started one game for the Jets in 2019, but was injured early and missed the remainder of the season. He has also made appearances with the Bengals and Bears in recent years, as well as four starts with the Saints in 2021 and 24 starts with the Broncos in 2016 and 2017. Despite his experience and success in Denver, the Jets have decided to go with the younger Boyle at this time.
