Team GB made history by winning the gold medal in the inaugural triathlon mixed relay at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. The event will now be part of the upcoming Paris 2024 Olympics, with the triathlon competition set to take place in the heart of Paris.

The triathlon schedule for Paris 2024 includes the men’s individual race on July 30, the women’s event on July 31, and the mixed relay on August 5. The athletes will start on a pontoon on the River Seine for the swim section, then move on to a route that passes by historic landmarks in the city center like the Champs-Elysees.

There has been some controversy leading up to the Games regarding the water quality in the Seine, with concerns about pollution levels. The Paris 2024 president mentioned in April that the swimming legs could be postponed if heavy rain increases pollution levels before the events.

The triathlon events at Paris 2024 include the men’s and women’s individual races, where athletes compete in straight medal races covering a 1500m swim, 40km cycle, and 10km run. The mixed relay involves a team of two men and two women competing in a short-course triathlon with a different course layout.

Great Britain, being the most successful triathlon nation at the Olympic Games, has high hopes for Paris 2024. The team’s success in Tokyo, including winning the mixed relay event, has raised expectations for the upcoming competition. Athletes like Georgia Taylor-Brown, Alex Yee, and others will be looking to continue their success in Paris. The final British triathlon team for Paris 2024 will be confirmed on June 10, with a mix of three women and two men making up the team.
