The first debate of the 2024 presidential campaign in the United States was filled with tension, insults, and accusations between current President Joe Biden and his rival Donald Trump. The debate took place at the CNN studios in Atlanta, Georgia. Only one other debate is scheduled for September 10, organized by ABC News.

During the debate, the candidates discussed various topics such as inflation, the economy, abortion laws, the Supreme Court, border security, conflicts in Eastern Europe and the Middle East, the Capitol invasion, and their own health.

Biden defended his handling of the economy, while Trump criticized Biden’s vaccination requirements and accused him of creating jobs for illegal immigrants. They also disagreed on abortion laws, border security, and foreign policy.

The candidates accused each other of various wrongdoing, including responsibility for the Capitol invasion and criminal convictions. They also discussed the living conditions of the black population in the United States and the opioid crisis.

In the end, both candidates attacked each other’s competence and health. Biden accused Trump of not admitting his electoral defeat in 2020, while Trump claimed that re-electing Biden would lead to World War III.

Overall, the debate was marked by heated exchanges and strong criticisms from both candidates towards each other’s policies and decisions.
