During a campaign stop in Philadelphia on Saturday, Donald Trump confirmed that he has made a decision on his vice presidential pick, although he has not yet revealed the chosen candidate’s name. Trump hinted that the mystery running mate will attend the upcoming presidential debate against Joe Biden this Thursday.
When asked if his vice presidential candidate already knows they have been selected, Trump responded, “No, nobody knows.” Sources have indicated that North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum and Sen. JD Vance of Ohio have emerged as finalists for the nomination, with Sen. Marco Rubio of Florida also under consideration. However, potential issues could arise if either Rubio or Trump need to establish residency outside of Florida due to location conflicts.
Despite the chosen running mate’s presence at the debate, Trump has stated that the announcement will not be made publicly until around the Republican National Convention, which commences on July 15th. The former president plans to reveal his vice presidential pick either at or around the convention, where he will likely receive his party’s formal nomination. Trump expressed confidence in the upcoming announcement, emphasizing that “we’ll have some great people.”
