Ty Gibbs secured the top spot for Sunday’s race at Charlotte Motor Speedway with a pole-winning lap of 183.955 mph, marking his first career pole position. Following Gibbs in the qualifying order was William Byron in second place with a lap of 183.58 mph, followed by Christopher Bell, Martin Truex Jr., and Chase Elliott.
Alex Bowman, Ross Chastain, Tyler Reddick, Michael McDowell, and Kyle Larson all made it to the second round of qualifying, setting up what promises to be an exciting race. However, Reddick will start from the rear of the field due to unapproved adjustments made by the No. 45 crew to the underwing of the Toyota after tech inspection. As a result, Reddick will have to serve a pass-through penalty at the start of the race.
Meanwhile, Chris Buescher was unable to take a qualifying lap after crashing during practice, forcing him to go to a backup car for Sunday’s race. Additionally, tensions flared between Cole Custer and Austin Hill during Saturday’s Xfinity race, adding even more drama to the weekend’s events at the 1.5-mile track.
Fans can catch all the action from the Coca-Cola 600 on Sunday at 6 p.m. ET on Fox, with pre-race coverage beginning on FS1 at 4:30 p.m. before moving to Fox at 5:30 p.m. It’s shaping up to be an exciting race with Gibbs leading the field to the green flag.
