In the 2023-24 Best Hospitals survey conducted by U.S. News & World Report, UC San Diego Health has been ranked as the number one health care provider in San Diego. This prestigious ranking is a testament to the quality of care provided by UC San Diego Health. Additionally, UC San Diego Health has also been featured in ” magazine for the first time. Director Stephen Tika expressed the importance of informing the people of North County that they have the option to choose UC San Diego Health for their healthcare needs, as the same level of quality is brought to their neighborhoods.
Tika emphasized UC San Diego Health’s goal of extending care to their primary care patients and attracting other patients to their clinic. He stated that providing options and choices in healthcare is crucial for the people of San Diego County. Tika highlighted one of the services offered by UC San Diego Health, which is same-day and next-day medical care for patients ages 6 months and older through their Express Care program. This program serves as a bridge between regular primary care and emergency care, providing both urgent care services and a wide range of primary care services such as treating conditions like sore throats, urinary tract infections, sprains, and ear infections.
Express Care facilities are open 24/7 and do not require a walk-in appointment. Patients can reserve a spot through an online queuing system. Additionally, patients 18 and older with minor health issues can opt for Express Care video appointments. The newest Express Care facility has recently been opened at UC San Diego Health’s Vista facility, with other facilities located in Encinitas, Rancho Bernardo, Downtown San Diego, Eastlake, and Pacific Highlands Ranch. These facilities are part of UC San Diego Health’s commitment to providing an extensive network of options for patients.
Tika highlighted the diversity of physicians and clinicians within UC San Diego Health and the expansion of their access to care. The addition of the online queuing system, “save my Spot,” allows patients to be seen on the same day, whether it’s a walk-in or a reserved spot. UC San Diego Health also works with the UC system and their clinical network of partners to facilitate comprehensive care options for both primary and specialty/subspecialty care.
