UHS Gets Ready to Surpass Expectations with “Eclipse” Event on April 8!

Mar 27, 2024

In order to allow University Health Service staff to partake in the excitement of the 2024 Solar Eclipse, the office will be closed for one hour in the afternoon on April 8, from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. During this time, Dr. Ethan Beaudett, our Medical Chief, will be on-call to handle any urgent calls received by our answering service. Normal operations will resume at 4:00 p.m.

We encourage everyone to take the opportunity to witness this historic event! It is important to remember to protect your eyes during a solar eclipse to prevent any long-term damage to your vision. Professor James Zavislan, an expert in optics and biomedical engineering, as well as ophthalmology, explains how eclipse glasses work to shield your eyes from the sun’s harmful light.

If you are in need of eclipse glasses for the upcoming total solar eclipse, you can obtain up to two pairs with a University ID from various locations on the River Campus and at the Eastman School of Music. Enjoy the eclipse safely and make sure to protect your eyes during this extraordinary event.
