On June 7, Russian soldiers drove BTR-82A armored vehicles straight into Sokol village, located between the cities of Avdeevka and Pokrovsk in Donetsk province. The video released by Russia shows the BTR-82A engaging in combat with Ukraine’s M2 Bradley infantry fighting vehicle. Despite being hit multiple times by the Bradley, the Russian soldiers continued firing artillery while rushing towards the landing area in Sokol village.

The BTR-82A arrived in the village to land troops, where Russian soldiers quickly disembarked and sought shelter in a nearby house. The site reported that the Russian forces then raided the center of Sokol village, destroying the M2 armored vehicle and forcing Ukrainian soldiers to flee. The assault group of the Russian 15th Mechanized Infantry Brigade took control of the area.

Ukraine announced that they had destroyed many Russian tanks and armored vehicles attacking towards Pokrovsk city, but admitted that the situation in the area remained tense. The Russian Ministry of Defense announced that they controlled the village of Paraskovievka, a strategic location that could serve as a springboard to attack Konstantinovka village. Capturing Konstantinovka would allow Russia to cut off supply lines to Ukrainian units in Ugledar and potentially launch a flanking attack to surround the stronghold.

In the midst of fierce fighting in Donetsk province, the situation remains volatile as both sides continue to engage in combat. The video released by Russia showcased the intensity and determination of the soldiers in battle, highlighting the challenges and risks faced by both the Russian and Ukrainian forces in the conflict.
