A Federal Times reader recently submitted a question to Kevin Moss, a senior editor at Consumers’ Checkbook who is an expert on federal employee health insurance plans for civil servants, retirees, and their families. The reader wanted to know if they would be able to keep Blue Cross Blue Shield under the new Postal health care plan. Moss responded by pointing out that the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) has released a list of conditionally approved PSHB carriers and that Blue Cross Blue Shield is one of them. However, final PSHB plans for the plan year 2025 will not be available until this fall.

Consumers’ Checkbook is a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping consumers make informed decisions. Moss leads the production of Checkbook’s Guide to Health Plans for Federal Employees, a decision support tool that assists federal employees and annuitants in finding the FEHB plan that best suits their needs. If you have a question about your FEHB plan or the federal insurance marketplace, you can send your query to benefitsexpert@federaltimes.com.
