Union predicts over 50 layoffs at Ontario Science Centre

Layoffs have started at the Ontario Science Centre, with more than 50 food service workers losing their jobs in the coming days. These workers were employed by Levy Canada, an external contractor. She highlighted that many people in Ontario want it to remain open at its current location.

Despite the closure, plans were previously announced to relocate the science centre to the new Ontario Place, which is still in the early stages of construction. Once completed, the science centre will be part of a new development that includes a large spa, renovated concert venue, and a marina.
