Uniondale School District students showcase their science and STEAM projects – get inspired by their creativity!

The annual school district-wide STEAM Fair on June 1 featured over 45 interactive, hands-on science, technology, engineering, arts, and math activity stations. These stations were run by students from Uniondale High School’s Science Honor Society. With the support of district teachers, students and their families were able to engage in educational activities across various STEAM disciplines. The event aimed to promote creativity, exploration, and learning for all participants.

Superintendent Monique Darrisaw-Akil highlighted the fair as an opportunity for students to showcase their talents and passion for STEAM subjects. Through hands-on activities and interactive exhibits, participants were able to deepen their understanding of STEAM concepts while developing critical thinking and problem-solving skills. The fair featured a wide range of activities, including augmented reality sandbox, blood pressure monitoring, DNA extraction, bath bomb making, edible play dough, liquid nitrogen ice cream, live animal exhibits, and more.

Attendees had the chance to purchase tie-dye T-shirts and enjoy food and snacks provided by the Science Honor Society. The tie-dye station allowed people to create unique souvenirs to remember the day. Arthur Registre, the science director at Uniondale school district, expressed gratitude to volunteers and community partners for their support in making the event possible. Their dedication to education enriched the experience for all participants and contributed to the overall success of the fair.

District officials affirmed their commitment to fostering STEAM education and environmental awareness. They look forward to continuing to empower the community through innovative programs in the future.
