United States Men’s National Team climbs to 11th place in the most recent FIFA men’s world rankings, while England drops to fourth position

Apr 4, 2024

The latest FIFA men’s world rankings have seen the USMNT climb to 11th place, following their successful CONCACAF Nations League victories over Jamaica and Mexico in March. Gregg Berhalter’s team has moved up two places, now sitting just behind Croatia in the top 10. Meanwhile, England has dropped to fourth in the rankings after failing to secure a victory in their last three games, drawing with Belgium, losing to Brazil, and drawing with North Macedonia.

Germany, the host of the upcoming European Championship, remains in 16th place. Argentina, the current world champions since winning the World Cup in 2022, hold the top spot of the rankings, having lost only one of their last 12 games. France is in second place, with Belgium moving up to third after being unbeaten in their last 13 matches.

In the latest rankings, Indonesia has made the biggest climb, moving up eight places to 134th, while Vietnam has seen the biggest drop, falling ten places to 115th. The FIFA Men’s World Rankings Top 15 includes top teams like Portugal, Netherlands, Spain, Italy, Colombia, Morocco, Mexico, and Uruguay.

Looking ahead, questions arise about England’s future in international competition, especially after recent losses to Brazil and their failure to secure a victory since November. The USMNT continues to impress, with players like Adams, Bradley, and Balogun making a mark on the field.
