University Health Services awarded full three-year reaccreditation

The University Park campus of Penn State University Health Services (UHS) has achieved full three-year reaccreditation from the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care Inc. (AAAHC). This accreditation process involves a written application and an intensive on-site survey to ensure compliance with AAAHC policies and procedures. The survey assesses hundreds of standards related to patient care evaluation, staff credentialing, risk management, and other critical areas.

Jamie Spicer, UHS compliance specialist, expressed pride and gratitude for being part of the UHS team at Penn State. The accreditation was a result of a collaborative effort of a dedicated and compassionate team. The AAAHC commended UHS for its beautiful facility, ‘super pharmacy,’ and organization of credentialing charts at the Student Health Center.

UHS, a unit of Penn State Student Affairs, is staffed by more than 20 board-certified clinicians and over 100 ancillary and support staff. They offer a wide range of medical services including urgent care, preventive care, on-site pharmacy, physical therapy, imaging, lab services, and ambulance services for Penn State students. Bruce Kraut, senior director of UHS, highlighted the commitment and quality of care provided by every member of the UHS staff.

The Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care, established in 1979, is a private nonprofit organization that develops standards to advance patient safety, quality care, and value for ambulatory health care.
