Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma have both announced their retirements from T20I cricket following India’s victory in the T20 World Cup final. The country erupted in celebration as Team India emerged victorious, with fans taking to the streets waving the Tricolour in joy. Social media was abuzz with congratulatory messages and images capturing the celebratory scenes after India defeated South Africa by seven runs to claim the ICC title after 11 years.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised the Indian Cricket Team for their stylish victory in bringing the ICC T20 World Cup home. President Droupadi Murmu also lauded the team for their never-say-die spirit. The Uttar Pradesh police joined in the celebrations by creatively commending the Indian bowlers for breaking South African hearts with a humorous twist in their congratulatory message.

The final match against South Africa was a tense affair, with India successfully defending a target of 176 runs. The Proteas seemed to have the upper hand at one point, but India’s bowlers – including Jasprit Bumrah, Hardik Pandya, and Arshdeep Singh – kept their composure in the crucial moments. Pandya played a pivotal role in the final over, defending 16 runs and securing a thrilling seven-run win for India.

Following the historic triumph, Virat Kohli promptly announced his retirement from T20I cricket, with Rohit Sharma also confirming his retirement during the official post-match press conference. The duo, considered two of India’s greatest cricketers, decided to bid adieu to the shortest format of the game on a high after achieving success in the T20 World Cup.
