Update: Linn County Public Health Promotes Healthy Living Together

By

Jul 1, 2024

Linn County Public Health and Together! Healthy Linn are hosting two town hall meetings to gather feedback from community members about the health of our community. These meetings are part of the Community Health Assessment process that occurs every three years. The input received during the town hall meetings will be used to shape the health priorities outlined in the 2025-2027 Community Health Improvement Plan (CHIP).

The first town hall meeting will be held on Thursday, July 11 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the Community Room of Lester Buresh Community Wellness Center in Mount Vernon, IA. The second meeting will take place on Wednesday, July 17 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Fairfax City Hall in Fairfax, IA. These meetings provide an opportunity for residents to share their experiences and perspectives on community health.

In addition to the town hall meetings, residents can also participate in two surveys to provide feedback. The food security survey aims to gather information about the current state of food security in Linn County and to identify needs and challenges related to accessing food resources. The community violence survey seeks to collect residents’ thoughts on safety and security in our community, which will help in developing violence prevention strategies.

Both surveys will be open until July 31, 2024. To learn more about the Community Health Assessment process or to get involved in ongoing CHIP efforts, interested individuals can visit the Community Health Assessment webpage or contact Linn County Public Health at 319-892-6000.
