A Massachusetts high school is relieved to be getting some of its sports equipment returned. Initially believed to have been stolen, the Stoneham High School Athletics Department now says it was a misunderstanding and is asking for the public’s help to recover the items.
The town is in the process of constructing a new high school, prompting past students to return for a final visit before the old building is demolished. During this event, equipment totaling thousands of dollars in value disappeared, including football helmets and field hockey jerseys. This has put the upcoming season for 10 different sports teams at risk.
The old high school permanently closed on June 12 and is scheduled for demolition this summer. The new facility is set to open in the fall. Efforts are underway to recover the missing sports equipment to ensure that the athletic programs can continue as planned.
