The Belfast Health and Social Care Trust is one of the largest integrated health and social care trusts in the United Kingdom. With seven hospitals and multiple other care facilities, the Trust provides integrated health and social care to approximately 350,000 citizens in Belfast as well as most regional specialist services for all Northern Ireland. The Trust is committed to improving patient outcomes and ensuring that Northern Ireland receives the right care at the right time and place.

To help achieve this goal, the Belfast Trust has selected UpToDate®, the clinical decision support (CDS) resource from Wolters Kluwer Health. UpToDate provides clinical teams with access to evidence-based clinical knowledge and recommendations, helping enhance patient safety. By embedding UpToDate into the clinical workflow via the electronic patient record (EPR), clinicians can easily search for information in patient context with just one click. This saves time and helps clinicians improve the quality of care they provide to patients.

Christian Cella, Vice President, International Segment for Clinical Effectiveness at Wolters Kluwer Health, expressed his pleasure in working with the Belfast Trust on their digital transformation program. He emphasized the importance of providing clinical teams with trustworthy information, especially when dealing with complex medical conditions in high-pressure settings. Access to UpToDate helps support clinicians in delivering the right care at the right time and in the right place, ultimately enhancing patient outcomes and care delivery.
