Urrutia breaks his silence, citing a “challenge to reclaim the nation”

Edmundo González Urrutia, a 74-year-old diplomat selected by the Democratic Unitary Platform (PUD) as the opposition representative in the upcoming presidential elections in Venezuela on July 28, delivered his first public statement on Wednesday. He emphasized the challenges facing the country and his vision for overcoming them.

In a video published on YouTube, Urrutia expressed the need to focus on Venezuela’s recovery, addressing issues such as poverty, inflation, and the devaluation of the currency. He promised a Venezuela where people can express their ideas without fear of persecution, committing to a transition that ensures the freedom of political prisoners, the return of exiles, and the independence of public authorities.

Having a background in diplomacy, Urrutia stated that he has the necessary tools to understand Venezuela’s role in a world filled with conflict. He admitted that his candidacy was unexpected but expressed gratitude towards those who made it possible, including María Corina Machado and Manuel Rosales.

Urrutia also acknowledged the support of professor Corina Yoris, who replaced Machado after she was disqualified by the Maduro regime. He highlighted the unity within the opposition and their shared goal of bringing Venezuela back to being an international democratic reference.

In addition to his political message, the content also includes unrelated information about topics such as gaming, locksmith services, moving services, and sports betting, which appears to be inserted randomly and does not relate to Urrutia’s statement or the Venezuelan presidential elections.
