US cricket team causes upset by defeating Pakistan in T20 World Cup

The US cricket team made history by defeating powerhouse Pakistan in a dramatic Super Over victory at the Men’s T20 Cricket World Cup in Dallas. This thrilling win marked the biggest victory in USA Cricket history and is considered one of the biggest upsets in the sport.

This World Cup is being co-hosted for the first time by the United States and the West Indies. Despite being ranked lower than Pakistan, who are No. 6 in the world, the US team, ranked No. 18, managed to secure a stunning victory.

Nitish Kumar’s match-saving boundary forced the Super Over, much to the delight of fans at the Grand Prairie Cricket Stadium. In the tie-breaking over, the United States posted a competitive score of 18 runs which was defended by Saurabh Netravalkar to limit Pakistan to 13 runs.

Captain Monank Patel was named player of the match after leading the team to victory. The US team also started the tournament strong with a win against Canada in the Group A opener, placing them at the top of the group with 4 points.

Looking ahead, India, one of the favorites to win the tournament, is also in Group A alongside the United States. Pakistan will face archrivals India next, while USA’s final two Group A matches are against India and Ireland.
