The USA made history by moving on to the next stage of the men’s T20 Cricket World Cup after their match against Ireland was abandoned due to a wet outfield. The International Cricket Council confirmed that both teams earned a point as a result of the abandoned game. The match in Lauderhill, Florida was canceled due to heavy rainfall overnight.

Despite the abandonment of the game, the USA secured a spot in the Super 8 stage of the tournament, marking a significant achievement as this is their first appearance in a T20 World Cup. The team’s performance during the group stage, which included a win against Pakistan and a close loss to India, has been a major talking point of the tournament.

The USA began their campaign with a win over Canada and finished the Group A stage with five points. As a result of the abandoned match, Pakistan was eliminated from the tournament. The top two teams from each of the tournament’s four groups advance to the Super 8 stage, where they will be split into two groups.

The Super 8 stage will begin on June 19, with 12 games played across four Caribbean islands. The top two teams from each group will advance to the semifinals of the T20 World Cup.
