Walmart’s Board of Directors has assigned oversight of risk management in information systems, information security, data privacy, and cybersecurity to the Audit Committee. The Audit Committee’s role in overseeing digital trust and cybersecurity can be found in Walmart’s 2024 annual report on Form 10-K.

The Digital Citizenship team at Walmart, led by the Chief Counsel, helps ensure that the company upholds its Digital Trust Commitments while developing and implementing new technologies, services, and innovative ways to serve customers. This team also tracks laws and regulations, as well as overseeing Walmart’s privacy policies and notices. The team consists of compliance and legal associates with expertise in areas such as digital values, cybersecurity, data privacy, ethical AI, and information management.

Walmart’s Chief Information Security Officer, reporting to the Chief Technology Officer, heads the Information Security organization. They are responsible for overseeing Walmart’s cybersecurity program that is supported by teams of cybersecurity professionals who assess, identify, monitor, detect, and manage cybersecurity risks, threats, vulnerabilities, and incidents.

To promote best practices, these teams provide regular information security and data privacy training to associates and certain third parties based on factors such as access, risk, policies, standards, and behaviors. In FY2024, approximately 1.4 million U.S. associates completed training on information security and digital citizenship.
