UW Health Commemorates Team’s Commitment to Safety and Quality Care

In Rockford, Illinois, UW Health recently recognized two recipients for their exceptional care and dedication to the community with the annual Dr. Henry C. Anderson awards. The individual award was presented to Julie Powless, the director of perioperative services and GI at UW Health. Powless was praised for her integrity, leadership qualities, and her ability to create a culture of accountability within the organization. Travis Andersen, CEO of UW Health, commended Powless for exemplifying the qualities of a transformational leader.

The Dr. Henry C. Anderson Quality Team Award was given to the UW Health SwedishAmerican Hospital 7th floor surgical oncology staff. The team was recognized for their outstanding efforts in inpatient fall prevention, achieving excellence in patient safety. Sal Ababneh, the hospital president, congratulated the team for their dedication to quality and safety, noting that they had gone 130 days without a fall at the time of their nomination.

The awards are named in honor of Dr. Henry C. Anderson, a physician who dedicated over 50 years to SwedishAmerican as a primary care physician and later as an administrative staff member. Dr. Anderson was known for his commitment to excellence and integrity in all aspects of his work. The awards reflect his values and legacy in the healthcare field.
