VCU Medical Center to Host First-Ever Cultural Festival

VCU Health is hosting its first Cultural Festival on Saturday, June 15 at VCU Medical Center to celebrate the diverse communities it serves. The family-friendly event is free and will feature activities for all ages, including balloon art, face painting, free books for kids, live music, and performances. The first 200 attendees will receive free food tickets to use at food trucks. The festival will begin with a presentation on the history of the health system and will offer free blood pressure and glucose screenings.

Marcelle Davis, Vice President of Inclusive Excellence for VCU Health System, emphasized the importance of educating the community about the organization’s history, providing health screenings, and celebrating with cultural performances. This festival aligns with the observances of Juneteenth, Caribbean American Heritage, and PRIDE in June, further strengthening relationships with the community.

The Cultural Festival will run from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on 12th Street between Broad and Marshall streets at VCU Medical Center Gateway building’s valet entrance. Free parking will be available at the Children’s Hospital of Richmond at VCU’s pavilion parking deck, with those using GRTC Pulse advised to use the VCU Medical Center bus stop. Any questions about the festival can be directed to the VCU Health Office of Inclusive Excellence through email. The festival promises to be a fun-filled event that celebrates diversity and community.
