Portuguese deputy André Ventura, leader of the right-wing Chega party, criticized the Brazilian government for their handling of the recent floods in the state of Rio Grande do Sul. In a video posted on his social media profile, Ventura accused President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva’s government of trying to hide the tragedy that many Brazilians are currently experiencing.
Ventura mentioned that Portugal had prepared 120 tons of material to be sent as support and aid to the affected Brazilians, with TAP Air Portugal ready to transport it. However, due to delays in delivery, approximately 30 tons of the material ended up spoiling. Ventura expressed his concern over the Brazilian government’s reluctance to accept international aid and urged them to assist in saving lives and supporting families affected by the disaster.
Although Ventura did not specify the details of the aid being offered, he emphasized the importance of putting politics aside and prioritizing the well-being of the people. The Brazilian government has not yet responded to these allegations, but Ventura’s plea for cooperation in the face of a humanitarian crisis remains unanswered.
