Offensive lineman Dalton Risner, who spent most of 2023 with the Vikings, has recently re-signed with the team. The Vikings were able to sign him for a significantly lower amount than what they will be paying receiver Justin Jefferson. Risner received a $500,000 signing bonus and a base salary of $1.41 million, with $600,000 guaranteed at signing.

In addition to his base salary, Risner’s deal includes $340,000 in per-game roster bonuses, a $200,000 first-game roster bonus, and three levels of playing-time incentives. These incentives include $250,000 for playing 75 percent of the time, another $250,000 for playing 80 percent, and an additional $250,000 for playing 85 percent. The maximum potential payout for Risner is $3.2 million, which is less than 10 percent of Jefferson’s annual earnings.

Despite the difference in earnings between Risner and Jefferson, Risner’s re-signing with the Vikings provides stability and continuity for the team’s offensive line. His performance on the field and the incentives in his contract will motivate him to strive for greater success and contribute to the overall success of the team. By securing Risner for another season, the Vikings have made a strategic move to solidify their offensive line and build upon their previous successes.
