The Ukrainian president, Volodymyr Zelensky, celebrated the peace summit for his country that is taking place in a Swiss town, which has been promoted by Kiev and described as a success. Zelensky expressed that the unity shown at the summit proves that the very idea of international law is still effective. He explained that the objective of the summit is to begin working on an action plan for peace that respects Ukraine’s territorial integrity, which will later be presented to Russia to try to end the war on those terms.
Zelensky emphasized the importance of moving away from ultimatums towards a just peace and highlighted the need to focus on key issues such as nuclear safety, food safety, and the return of prisoners of war and Ukrainian civilians detained by Russia. He reiterated that no one has the right to launch a war of aggression against a neighbor or undermine the territorial integrity of countries. Zelensky expressed pride in the global representation at the summit and thanked all participants for accepting Kiev’s invitation.
