NASA’s Voyager 1 probe, located 24 billion km away from Earth, has successfully resumed transmitting data after overcoming some malfunctions that threatened to disrupt its interstellar mission. After decoding signals from Voyager 1, NASA engineers discovered that 3% of the flight data system’s memory was corrupted due to a malfunctioning chip. The Voyager team remains optimistic despite the challenges posed by time and distance from Earth. As project manager Susan Dodd stated, “We never know for sure what will happen, but it never ceases to amaze me that they are still making progress.”
