Waha Oil selects Zulal Water Technology for 900m³ drinking water treatment plant project

Zulal Water Technology (ZWT) has announced that it has been awarded an Engineering, Procurement, Installation & Commissioning (EPIC) contract by Libya’s Waha Oil Company (WOC) to build a drinking water treatment plant at Dahra Oil Field. The plant will have a design capacity of 900m³/day and an operational capacity of 600m³/day. Dahra Field currently does not have a drinking water plant, making this project a crucial addition.

The water at Dahra Field is highly challenging to treat, with high salinity levels comparable to sea water. Additionally, high levels of H2S and iron in the water add to the complexity of the project. ZWT highlighted the specialized nature of the project, requiring substantial technical expertise to overcome these challenges.

Waha Oil Company conducted a competitive procurement process and thorough technical evaluation before awarding ZWT the contract. The project will be executed on a full turnkey basis, including various treatment processes and the supply of necessary equipment and chemicals.

Iftikhar ul Haq, Director of ZWT, emphasized the importance of experience in tackling the unique challenges posed by Dahra Field’s water. ZWT’s team boasts over 35 years of experience and has successfully completed numerous water treatment projects in Libya.

This project adds to ZWT’s portfolio of successful water treatment plants completed for Waha Oil Company in various locations. The company’s commitment to using the latest technologies and expertise ensures that Waha’s water needs are met efficiently and effectively.
