Walker describes playing with Stones as an ‘absolute dream’ and his performance as ‘unbelievable’

Marc Guehi expressed his gratitude towards Manchester City’s John Stones and Kyle Walker for guiding him through his first major tournament with the England national team. As two of the most experienced players in the squad, Vice-captain Walker and central defender Stones have been instrumental in helping Guehi settle into the team during the Euro 2024 group stages. Guehi, who replaced the injured Harry Maguire in the starting lineup, has been a standout performer for Gareth Southgate’s side.

Speaking at a news conference, Guehi praised Stones for his leadership on the field, stating that playing alongside him has been a dream come true. He acknowledged the influence of both Stones and Maguire for setting a high standard of performance for the team. Guehi also commended Walker for his tenacity, leadership, and pace, highlighting his contribution to the team’s success.

Guehi emphasized the importance of togetherness and strong performances in building confidence within the team. He noted that England has remained unbeaten in the tournament so far and stressed the significance of focusing on controlling what they can in order to continue their successful run.
