To determine the top economic performers in the United States across various metrics, WalletHub, a personal finance website, released its report on the Best & Worst State Economies in 2024. WalletHub compared all 50 states and the District of Columbia using 28 key indicators of economic performance and strength. These indicators ranged from GDP growth and unemployment rates to startup activity and the proportion of jobs in high-tech industries.
In terms of economic performance, Arizona ranked 10th overall. This ranking was based on factors such as the change in GDP, startup activity, the percentage of jobs in high-tech industries, annual median household income, change in nonfarm payrolls, and government surplus/deficit per capita.
