Warning from Health Officials: Avoid Consuming Shruumz

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is warning consumers not to buy, eat, sell, or serve a variety of products that are marketed as containing a proprietary blend of mushrooms. These products have been recalled by Diamond Shruumz, the maker of chocolate bars, cones, and gummies.

Health officials in Indiana are investigating severe acute illnesses that may be linked to consuming Diamond Shruumz brand products. As of June 24, 2024, there have been a total of 39 reported illnesses from 20 states, with 23 hospitalizations and three confirmed cases in Indiana. Thankfully, no deaths have been reported.

People who fell ill after eating Diamond Shruumz brand products reported experiencing a range of severe symptoms such as seizures, loss of consciousness, confusion, sleepiness, agitation, abnormal heart rates, changes in blood pressure, nausea, and vomiting.

Diamond Shruumz brand products can be purchased online or at various retail locations across the country, including gas stations, smoke/vape shops, or stores that sell hemp-derived or CBD products.

Anyone who becomes ill after consuming these products should seek medical attention. They should also call the Indiana Poison Center at 1-800-222-1222 to report their symptoms and seek further information. Callers should inform Poison Control that they have recently consumed Diamond Shruumz brand chocolate bars, cones, or gummies.
