The Warriors missed out on Paul George and are now exploring trades for other star players. One potential trade being considered is with the Utah Jazz for star forward Lauri Markkanen, as reported by ESPN’s Brian Windhorst on his “Brian Windhorst & The Hoop Collective” podcast. Windhorst mentioned that the Warriors are still exploring other options and are investigating the availability of Markkanen on the trade market.
The San Antonio Spurs are also interested in a potential trade for Markkanen, and teams in negotiations with Utah believe the Jazz may be willing to trade him. Markkanen had an impressive season with the Jazz, averaging 23.2 points, 8.2 rebounds, and 2.0 assists per game while shooting nearly 40 percent from 3-point range. Many see him as a great second scoring option alongside Steph Curry for the Warriors.
In addition to Markkanen, the Warriors are reportedly considering trades for Zach LaVine of the Chicago Bulls and Brandon Ingram of the New Orleans Pelicans. It is uncertain who the Warriors will ultimately land in a trade, but Markkanen could potentially be the best fit for Golden State.
As discussions continue, the Dubs Talk Podcast offers updates and insights on the Warriors’ trade pursuits.
