Warriors coach Steve Kerr had two openings on his staff last week. Those spots have now been filled by Terry Stotts and Jerry Stackhouse. They are expected to join Kerr on the front bench along with Kris Weems, who will fill the third spot. Weems was promoted last summer after Jama Mahlalela took a job with the Toronto Raptors. Longtime assistant Bruce “Q” Fraser will move back to the second bench after three seasons on the front bench.

Stotts, 66, has 13 years of head-coaching experience, most recently with the Portland Trail Blazers. He resigned from the Milwaukee Bucks last summer after discord with head coach Adrian Griffin. Stotts will take on the top assistant role left vacant by Kenny Atkinson, who took the head coaching job with the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Stackhouse, 49, is a former NBA All-Star player who turned to coaching after retiring in 2013. He has experience coaching in the G League and previously served as an assistant with the Memphis Grizzlies. His spot on the staff was created by the passing of assistant Dejan “Deki” Milojević in February.

Kerr decided to bring in coaches with previous head-coaching experience after Atkinson left. With Stotts’ experience and Stackhouse’s strong personality, the Warriors’ coaching staff is expected to be stronger next season.
