Pat Sajak’s final episode as the host of “Wheel of Fortune” airs on Friday, concluding his 41-season run that spanned over 8,000 episodes. After Sajak’s departure, Ryan Seacrest is slated to take over as the new host of the show in the fall. Sajak will deliver a moving farewell address in his last episode, expressing gratitude for the opportunity to be welcomed into millions of homes for so many years.

With a dark suit and navy-blue tie, Sajak reflects on the responsibility he felt to keep the show a safe space for family entertainment, free of social issues, politics, or anything embarrassing. Over time, the show evolved into more than just a game, becoming a source of learning and entertainment for viewers of all ages and backgrounds. Sajak expressed his gratitude to the viewers for allowing him to be a part of their lives.

Having announced his retirement last June, Sajak has been the host of “Wheel of Fortune” since its inception in 1983, setting a record for the longest-serving game show host of the same show. With 19 Daytime Emmy nominations and three wins for outstanding game show host, Sajak’s contribution to the show has been significant. As he steps down, Ryan Seacrest will be stepping in to continue the legacy of “Wheel of Fortune” as its new host.
