In sports news, the Alpena High boys soccer team suffered a tough loss to Traverse City West, with a final score of 8-0. Despite this setback, the team will be competing against Traverse City Central next Tuesday.
In volleyball, the Atlanta team achieved another victory, winning their second match in a row. They defeated Fairview in three sets, with scores of 25-6, 25-8, and 25-5. Standout performances included Jenna McSwain with 10 aces, Olivia McSwain with 17 assists and five aces, Brianna Jadrych with 10 kills, and Valerie Binge with eight aces and five kills.
Moving on to girls golf, the Alpena team emerged as the victors in the Traverse City JV/Small School Invitational. They achieved a team score of 436, with Grace Bouchard taking first place overall with a score of 88, and Jami Richards following closely in second place with a score of 97. Brook Schroeder, Faith Dragiewicz, and Alivia Garrow also contributed to the team’s success with scores of 121, 130, and 140 respectively.
Lastly, in boys tennis, the Alpena team faced off against Cadillac. Although Johnny Bender secured a win at one singles with scores of 6-4, 6-2, Cadillac ultimately won the dual 6-2. Additionally, the one doubles team of Finn Williams and Tyler Cloft also achieved a victory with scores of 6-3, 6-0.
