West Ham is on the verge of completing a 30m euro (£25.5m) deal for 18-year-old Brazilian midfielder Luis Guilherme from Palmeiras. The Hammers’ director of football, Tim Steidten, has been in Brazil working to strengthen new manager Julen Lopetegui’s team. Despite initial concerns that the transfer might fall through, sources have informed BBC Sport that it is now nearly finalized.
This potential signing would mark West Ham’s first acquisition since David Moyes was replaced by Lopetegui and Steidten took charge of the club’s transfer business. Guilherme, who made his debut for Palmeiras at just 17 years old in 2023, also featured for the team in the current season’s Copa Libertadores group stage.
Guilherme has previous experience representing his home country at the under-20 level, demonstrating his talent and potential as a promising young player. If the deal goes through as expected, West Ham fans can look forward to seeing Guilherme showcase his skills in the Premier League under Lopetegui’s leadership.
