Uganda will be feeling disappointed with how the last over unfolded, as the 18-run over from Cosmas Kyewuta marred an otherwise impressive display of death bowling. Despite this setback, the African side should still take pride in the fight they showed with the ball throughout the 20 overs.
The match started well for Uganda, with the bowlers maintaining tight lines in the first few overs. However, the decision to remove Alpesh Ramjani after his economical first over proved to be a mistake, as Johnson Charles capitalized on the pace bowlers and got into his rhythm. Ramjani was brought back in the 5th over and made an immediate impact.
As the field restrictions eased after the Powerplay, Uganda’s spinners played a crucial role in pulling things back during the middle phase of the innings. The team did a commendable job of restricting boundaries towards the end of the innings, keeping the West Indies in check. Unfortunately, Cosmas Kyewuta’s final over did not go as planned, allowing the opposition to reach a total of 173.
Overall, Uganda displayed moments of brilliance with the ball, but will need to work on their consistency in order to put up a stronger performance in future matches.
