In Oakland, firefighters were busy battling a three-alarm fire at a roofing supply business in West Oakland. The blaze started around 10:15 p.m. at Pacific Supply on 24th Street. According to Oakland Fire Department spokesperson Michael Hunt, the fire began on the sidewalk and spread to the building.
Most of the fire was concentrated on the building and not in the yard where equipment is stored. By midnight, the fire was contained but not yet fully under control. Fire crews were expected to remain on-site throughout the night to extinguish the fire and prevent any new hot spots from flaring up.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported, and the fire did not pose a threat to nearby buildings. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation, and more updates are expected as the story develops. Stay tuned for the latest information from The Mercury News.
