Westfield, a property and casualty company based in the US, has introduced a new program aimed at preventing home electrical fires. The program, called Ting, utilizes smart plug-in sensors to monitor a home’s electrical system, identify potential hazards, alert homeowners, and guide them through necessary repairs to prevent fires.
In collaboration with Whisker Labs, Westfield is providing the Ting sensor and three years of fire prevention service for free to its customers. This initiative is part of Westfield’s commitment to ensuring their customers’ peace of mind by offering advanced warning to prevent potential home fires.
Ting, a smart home technology, offers advanced warnings to mitigate fire hazards before they become disastrous. It can also detect faults in the utility grid that may cause damage to homes and potentially contribute to wildfires in high-risk areas. Additionally, Ting can predict issues that may lead to water damage inside a home.
Westfield plans to distribute the fire hazard sensor and service to 10,000 homeowners at no cost this year, with a goal of reaching over 20,000 more homeowners in the next three years. This new technology aligns with Westfield’s mission of providing insurance products and solutions to protect their customers and communities for over 176 years.
