A sporting goods resale store located in Fayetteville is currently up for sale, with hopes that a new owner will continue to provide customers with both new and used sporting equipment. The store is part of the Play It Again Sports brand which was established in 1983 in Minneapolis and now has 290 locations nationwide. The Fayetteville store, situated at 245 Westwood Shopping Center, has been in operation for over 25 years, according to the brand’s official website. With a gross annual sales value of $707,623 and 10 employees, the store is listed for sale at $150,000.

The current owner, Jeff Mozingo, acquired the store from the original owners, Dean and Anne Mathias, in May 2020. Mozingo expressed his desire to see the store’s legacy continue in Fayetteville under new management. The Mathiases had opened the store in October 1997. The decision to sell the store was based on a business choice made by Mozingo, who believes that there is significant potential for growth and improved customer service under new ownership. The goal is to find a buyer who will uphold the Play It Again Sports legacy in the community.

Play It Again Sports operates by buying, selling, and trading high-quality new and used sports gear and fitness equipment, according to the store’s listing. Currently, the store is collaborating with the franchisor Winmark to identify a qualified buyer to take over ownership. Mozingo stated that the store will continue to operate normally to facilitate a smooth transition for the new owner.
