The debate between Biden and Trump in Atlanta was drastically different from others due to commercial breaks and no live audience. With the economy being a key topic, the candidates were expected to discuss their stances on it during the CNN Presidential Debate.

Polls showed that Trump received high marks for his handling of the economy, with voters trusting him more than Biden to address concerns such as inflation. Trump’s $1.5 trillion tax overhaul in 2017 would expire during the next president’s term in 2025, impacting the economy significantly.

On the other hand, Biden believes in boosting the U.S. economy from the middle out and the bottom up. He has introduced the $1.9 trillion American Rescue Plan, focusing on stimulus and funding for infrastructure and climate initiatives. Biden’s economic plan also includes increasing the minimum corporate tax rate and introducing benefits such as restoring the Child Tax Credit and providing tax credits for new homebuyers.

As the candidates went head-to-head, their differing economic policies and approaches to support the economy were expected to be major points of contention during the debate. The impact of these policies on voters and the economy will be closely watched as the election approaches.
