The Tennessee Volunteers are gearing up to compete in their first NCAA College World Series showdown against the Texas A&M Aggies, with the first game scheduled for this Saturday. Despite their history of participating in the baseball championship tournament, the Vols have never been able to clinch the title. The team first appeared in the CWS back in 1951 and has since made it to Omaha six times, including three times in the last four years. With seven appearances in NCAA regionals and 14 NCAA tournament appearances, the Vols have a strong baseball tradition.

Although winning the national championship won’t be an easy feat, the well-built Tennessee team has a legitimate chance of making history this time around. They face a tough opponent in the Aggies, but the Vols are determined to claim their first-ever title. Despite the program’s rich history, Tennessee has never won the national championship. The team has made it to the final game in the past, finishing as the runner-up more than 70 years ago when they faced off against Oklahoma in 1951.

Back in the early days of the NCAA baseball tournament, the Volunteers didn’t have to go through the regional or super regional rounds to make it to the College World Series. They were one of the eight teams selected straight to Omaha. The regional round of the tournament wasn’t added until 1954. In their last appearance in the CWS final, the Volunteers won four consecutive games but fell short to Oklahoma in the championship game. Now, the Vols are aiming to redeem themselves and bring home their first national championship.
