WhatsApp has introduced a new feature that allows users to organize events through group chats. This feature enables users to plan meetings, confirm details, and track attendance within the group chat. Meta’s messaging platform, continuously updating to enhance user experience, has added this feature to streamline organization when meeting friends or conducting meetings with colleagues.
The new event feature in WhatsApp Groups simplifies event organization within the chat itself. Users can set the date and time of the event, manage attendance, specify location, and even schedule a group call if needed. Initially developed for WhatsApp communities, this feature is now available for all group chats on both iOS and Android devices.
To access the event feature, users can click on the options menu next to the survey tool with a calendar icon. From there, they can add a name and description for the event, set the date and time, specify a location, and choose whether to include a WhatsApp call link for virtual events. Group members can view the invitation, confirm attendance, and event creators can update details as needed.
This tool maintains end-to-end encryption, ensuring that only group members have access to event details. With this update, WhatsApp has now implemented group events globally for all users on iOS and Android devices. The feature allows for seamless event planning and coordination within group chats, enhancing the overall user experience on the platform.
